Chad Westhoven

Chad Westhoven brings 25 years of biopharma laboratory expertise to his role as Vice President of Quality Improvement at Creative Testing Solutions (CTS). During his career, Chad served in lab bench work, project management, and lab management. His true passion, however, is laboratory quality assurance (QA) leadership. He excels at developing and enhancing systems that promote efficient and sustainable quality outcomes while ensuring they bring measurable value to the organization.

Chad’s laboratory QA experience is rooted in drug discovery and preclinical work supporting Investigational New Drug (IND) Applications, as well as Phase I through Phase IV clinical trials. This breadth of experience has allowed Chad to gain a wealth of practical quality systems knowledge, including a deep understanding of successful applications and common pitfalls. In his current role at CTS, Chad is responsible for a variety of functions that support the enterprise and laboratory operations. Prior to joining CTS, he spent 10 years as director of laboratory quality and compliance for the world’s largest producer of source plasma. There, he played a key role in supporting the safe manufacture of plasma-derived medicines.

Chad has been a keynote speaker and trainer on various quality assurance topics in national and international settings. He has served on the Board of Directors for a regional chapter of the Society of Quality Assurance. Chad is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and describes himself as a lifelong student of continuous improvement. He enjoys being a coach and mentor to other professionals on quality concepts and deeply respects the value of teamwork.

Chad finds daily inspiration in the unyielding support of his wife, the uncompromising helpfulness of his son, and his daughter’s lessons in finding the fun in everything that life has to offer. When not at work, you can find him at the movies or traveling. He also enjoys watching football — go Buckeyes and Texans!
